Small things you can do to keep your-self active, in short I’m talking about G.P.P. (General Physical Preparedness). This basically means that you are self-aware and are prepared for certain tasks during the course of the day. So here we go, it’s an easy 9 step programme which you will need to follow as much as you can, and these are in random order.

The 9 steps are as follows: -

1. Answer your doorbell – Instead of making someone else get up, you jump up and get it, it’s being helpful as well as working your legs.

2. Cut your television time – Approximately cut around two hours of your “idiot box” and read a book, visit a friend, go out, etc. It’s far better than looking at a screen all day.

3. Be Proactive – Don’t wait for lunch or dinner time to decide what to eat, prep your meals in advance, about 3 days in advance should be about right.

4. Take a hike – A walk to the local grocery store would do you more justice than sitting around doing nothing or taking your vehicle. Also make sure to keep a list so that you make correct choices and prevent you from being an indulgent buyer.

5. Have a fruit – The great book once said, “An apple a day keeps the Doctor away.” So to keep true to the phrase, add a fruit to your diet, one fruit compulsorily. It’s better than having junk.

6. Get meticulous – One way of being meticulous would be cleaning up your house and arranging things and placing them in the right order. Don’t make someone else do your dirty work. Getting down on your knees and mopping the floor is a great workout, it works on building core strength and another way of building some stamina would be dusting or doing the dishes, doing the laundry, etc. This is how you can “Zedge It” daily.

7. Jump!! – Yes!!! You read it right... Jumping helps a great deal in getting your blood flowing, your heart rate pumping and a lot more. You can do different jumping variations. E.g. jumping jacks, butt kicks, squat jumps, skipping and back to the basics regular jumps.

8. Switch off from tech – Disconnect yourself from technology for a minimum of 10 mins a day and be at peace with yourself by mediating, doing a little yoga, stretching and most of all relaxing.

9. Sleep right – Go to bed a few minutes prior to your original sleep time, your body requires adequate rest and sleeping helps you relax and recover from the day’s events.
